IELTS Speaking Part 2: Cue Card Preparation

Use the preparation minute effectively to build a coherent two-minute IELTS Speaking Part 2 response.

Practical method

1. Read the topic and prompts carefully.
2. Use the preparation time to note a simple beginning, useful details and ending.
3. Speak continuously and naturally, explaining reasons and relevant details.
4. Practise with different everyday topics rather than memorizing one answer.

How to practise effectively

Try the task with several different examples. Record your answers or working process, review mistakes, and compare your performance over multiple attempts. One shortcut or template cannot guarantee a test score.
