In Respond to a Situation you listen to and read a real-life situation, then speak an appropriate response. Focus on the role, audience, request and tone.

Step-by-step approach

  1. Identify who you are speaking to and your purpose.
  2. State the main request or response early; avoid unrelated details.
  3. Add essential context and practical next steps while maintaining the appropriate level of politeness.
  4. Finish naturally and practise speaking clearly within the task's allotted recording time.

Try an original example

Situation: A classmate borrowed your textbook, and you need it before tomorrow's lesson. Ask them to return it.

Show suggested answer and explanation

Hi, could you please bring back the textbook you borrowed from me? I need it to prepare for tomorrow's lesson. You can return it this evening or bring it before class. Thanks for your help.
