Direct Bachelor or pathway?
Some universities accept Bangladesh HSC directly at specified GPA levels. Others ask for foundation, diploma or prior tertiary study.
See pathwaysA practical research guide for Bangladeshi students covering admission, universities, costs, visa, work, life after graduation and arrival — with official sources and clear distinctions between university requirements and immigration rules.
Most new Student visa applicants can no longer include a partner or dependent child unless an exemption applies, and current Student visa holders generally cannot later add family as subsequent entrants. Older advice online may now be wrong.
Verify with Home Affairs ↗Australia does not use one national academic cut-off. Your route depends on study level, institution, subject, English, academic history, budget and visa logic.
Some universities accept Bangladesh HSC directly at specified GPA levels. Others ask for foundation, diploma or prior tertiary study.
See pathwaysDuration, awarding body, subjects and relevance matter. Credit transfer should never be promised before formal assessment.
See pathwaysUniversities can look at degree recognition, CGPA, prerequisites, subject match and sometimes professional experience.
Degree recognitionInstitution, academic trend, course logic, work history and pathway options can change what is realistic.
What helpsEmployment, business, family responsibilities, training and a logical return to study can support the explanation.
Gap evidenceProposal quality, prior research, thesis, publications and supervisor availability can matter.
Research routeFinal admission is always university and course specific.
Possible routes include direct Bachelor, Foundation, Diploma/college pathway, or prior tertiary study depending on the institution.
Universities assess qualification duration, awarding body, academic content and relevance. Some applicants may enter Bachelor programs with credit; others may start earlier in the degree.
Masters admission commonly assesses whether the degree is recognised, CGPA/percentage, prerequisites, course relevance, English and sometimes work experience.
Expect more emphasis on proposal, thesis/research background, publications, research methods and supervisor fit. Research applicants also have different work-rule and 485-age considerations.
Australian education providers use Country Education Profile (CEP) assessment guidance when interpreting overseas qualifications. The section can affect how a Bangladeshi Bachelor degree is compared, how many years of study are expected, and whether a direct or pathway route is available.
National University currently reports 2,257 affiliated colleges and institutions. For degrees awarded by National University, the qualification is assessed through National University rather than treating each affiliated college as its own separate CEP Section institution. National University appears in our current researched Section 2 list.
Check official NU affiliated colleges ↗If a college or institution does not appear as a standalone Section 1, 2 or 3 entry, check the degree-awarding university shown on the certificate/transcript. If that awarding body is not in the current list either, the Australian provider may need to assess the qualification individually.
Check Bangladesh UGC institutions ↗Current researched snapshot includes 30 Section 1 institutions. A 2023 PFEC update also reported the CEP Section 1 total as 30.
Section 2 includes a much broader group of public and private institutions. Exact qualification length and result can still matter to the Australian provider.
Section 3 contains many newer institutions. Section 3 does not automatically mean “Australia impossible”; some pathway providers explicitly accept Section 3 qualifications under different duration or grade conditions.
The relevant question is not simply “Is my university Section 1?” It is “How does my target Australian provider assess my exact qualification, duration and result?”

“Accepts” above refers to the specific published pathway/program rule shown, not blanket admission to every degree at the university. Course prerequisites, English, grades, GS/visa assessment and current provider policy still apply.
Helpful factors can include stronger recent study, relevant work experience, a realistic university choice and a coherent progression.
Useful evidence can include employment letters, salary records, business documents, training, family circumstances or other evidence explaining the period.
A field change is not automatically disqualifying, but it needs a credible reason for why the new course now makes sense for your skills and career.
Course structure, accreditation, English, tuition, campus and intake can matter more than a general university ranking.
Compare prerequisites, specialisation depth, placement opportunities and professional recognition where relevant.
Compare accreditation, majors, internships and quantitative prerequisites.
Check mathematics/science prerequisites and Engineers Australia accreditation where relevant.
Registration-linked courses may carry higher English, placement and compliance requirements.
Teacher-registration linked programs can have higher English and placement requirements.
Accreditation, portfolios and practical industry components vary by course.

The exact order can vary by provider and applicant, but this is the practical flow many Bangladesh applicants will move through.
Submit the academic application with required transcripts, certificates, passport, English evidence and course-specific documents.
The provider may issue a direct offer when requirements are already met, or a conditional offer when items such as final results, English evidence or additional documents are still outstanding.
Where required, complete the provider interview, Genuine Student screening, SOP/GS statement and financial review. Not every provider uses exactly the same process.
Accept the final offer, sign required acceptance documents and pay the tuition deposit or other amount required by the provider.
Receive the Confirmation of Enrolment and arrange/pay for Overseas Student Health Cover for the required period.
Lodge the Subclass 500 application with the required GS answers, financial evidence, identity documents and any other documents relevant to the profile.
Complete the health examination and biometrics when Home Affairs requests them. Follow the HAP ID and biometric instruction letter rather than arranging unnecessary checks blindly.
Monitor ImmiAccount and email, respond promptly if Home Affairs requests additional information, and avoid making irreversible travel plans before the visa decision.
Home Affairs looks at your circumstances, course logic, understanding of the provider and the value of the study to your future.
Show how it connects to your previous education, skills, experience and future direction.
Statement of Purpose (SOP) may be requested by the university, pathway provider or as part of an institution's own Genuine Student screening. It can cover your academic background, study gap, work history, why this course/provider, finances and future career logic.
Understand the course, provider, location and why this option makes sense compared with realistic alternatives.
Employment, business, income, family and economic circumstances may be relevant. Evidence should support the story.
The cost and academic progression should make sense in relation to your future career and circumstances.
There is no one identical document bundle for every student. University admission, provider GS screening, Home Affairs financial evidence and character/identity requirements can each require different documents.

|---|---|---|
| Birth certificate / NID where relevant | Identity, date of birth or relationship evidence | Use where requested or useful to establish identity/relationship |

| Marriage certificate | Marital status / relationship evidence where legally relevant | Family inclusion rules changed on 2 Oct 2026; do not assume spouse inclusion is available |
| Police clearance certificate | Character assessment if Home Affairs asks for it | Not every Student visa applicant should blindly obtain one at the start. Home Affairs may request police certificates depending on character/history circumstances |

Medical examination costs depend on the approved panel clinic and required examinations. Follow HAP/request instructions.
OSHC, English testing, police evidence where required, translation and other profile-specific expenses sit outside the base visa charge.
Most new Student visa applicants from 2 October 2026 cannot include partner or dependent child unless an exemption applies.
Examples include specified PhD, government scholarship and sponsored categories. Home Affairs rules must be checked at lodgement.
A university name alone is not enough. CRICOS is the Australian Government register for providers and courses available to Student visa holders.
Search the exact provider, course and delivery location on CRICOS. Keep the CRICOS code with your course records.
Open CRICOS ↗Most Student visa holders can work up to 48 hours per fortnight while their course is in session.
Masters by Research and Doctoral students have different work-hour treatment under current Student visa conditions.
International students have workplace rights, including pay and payslip protections.
Current National Minimum Wage from 1 July 2026 is AUD 26.44/hour for an adult award-free employee, with a national casual minimum of AUD 33.05/hour. Many jobs are award-covered and may pay differently.
Gross estimate only. Tax, award rates, age, casual loading, weekend/public-holiday penalties and actual shifts can change the result.
Café, restaurant, hotel and bar roles. RSA may be required for alcohol-related work depending on state. Barista skills can help.
Shops, supermarkets and service roles. Award rates and penalty rates may apply.
Picking, packing and distribution roles. Shift availability and physical requirements vary.
A White Card is generally required to enter construction work environments.
WWCC / Blue Card or equivalent can be required depending on state and role.
Qualifications, checks, training and role-specific compliance can apply. Never assume immediate eligibility.
Apply for a Tax File Number so employers and the ATO can correctly handle your tax affairs.
ATO ↗Tax residency is separate from visa status. Overseas students on courses longer than six months are generally treated as Australian residents for tax, subject to the ATO residency test.
Eligible employees receive employer super contributions. Temporary residents may be able to claim DASP after leaving Australia and meeting the conditions.
Rent, lifestyle, university choice and migration-region classification differ by location.
Rent labels are planning-level comparisons, not live quotes. Always verify current listings before making a budget.
Masters by Research and PhD applicants retain an under-50 age exception for the relevant 485 criterion. Eligible regional graduates may access a second Post-Higher Education Work stream.
These three major metropolitan areas are the main exclusions for migration regional classification.
These and other designated locations can count as regional for relevant migration settings.
Skilled migration is a separate system involving occupation eligibility, skills assessment, points, state/employer options and invitation/application rules.
Choose a course for skills and career value first. Then separately understand the migration pathways that may exist under the rules in force when you graduate.
This is an educational calculator only. It does not determine visa eligibility or invitation likelihood.
This simplified explorer omits some skilled-employment and qualification combinations. Always use current Home Affairs rules for a real assessment.
Some fields can connect to occupations used in skilled migration frameworks, but occupation lists, skills-assessment standards, points and state criteria can change before graduation.
Can connect to regulated occupations. Registration, English and skills requirements are critical.
Can connect to engineering occupations, with skills assessment and professional requirements relevant.
Can connect to ICT occupations, but degree content, skills assessment and work history can matter.
Professional registration/assessment and higher English thresholds can be significant.
Occupation relevance depends on the exact qualification and skills-assessment pathway.
A course should still make sense even if migration policy changes before graduation.
