BANGLADESH ELIGIBILITY

Cyprus has no single national Bangladesh HSC percentage or Bachelor CGPA cut-off.

The university decides admission, while the programme and institution must also be recognised by the Republic of Cyprus.

Bachelor

A recognised secondary-school leaving qualification is the starting point.

Official Cyprus guidance says applicants holding a school-leaving certificate from a six-year secondary institution or equivalent can apply for Bachelor study. Individual universities set grades, subjects and English requirements.

Private universities

Direct international admission is common.

Private universities typically assess international school credentials directly and may offer foundation English pathways where the applicant does not yet meet full language entry.

Public universities

Admission can be more restrictive.

University of Cyprus and Cyprus University of Technology operate different admission mechanisms from private universities, with programme and applicant-category rules that need to be checked separately.

Masters

A recognised relevant Bachelor is normally required.

Universities assess degree level, subject match, grades, credits and language. There is no Cyprus-wide Bangladesh CGPA requirement.

English

IELTS and other evidence are programme-specific.

Many private-university programmes are taught in English. The exact accepted test and score are set by the institution.

CYQAA

Verify the exact programme, not only the university name.

Cyprus’s Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency publishes accredited institutions, departments and programmes.

CYQAA currently accredits one-year English Language Foundation programmes at multiple private universities for students who need language preparation.

Public-university language

Greek is important for many public Bachelor programmes, while English options are broader at postgraduate level.

MONEY & FINANCIAL EVIDENCE

Cyprus does not publish one universal monthly student-funds figure on the central student page.

Current public-institution example

Recent bank balance example€7,000
Tuition payment example€3,000
Airport cash · UCY€2,000
Repatriation guaranteeRequired where applicable

Use the exact institution and Migration checklist.

Current government institution guidance uses a €7,000 minimum recent bank balance, six-month bank evidence, sponsor limitations and a €3,000 tuition payment example. Requirements can differ by institution and Council of Ministers decision.

University of Cyprus currently instructs non EU students to carry €2,000 in cash at the airport unless they have a full scholarship or scholarship of at least 50%. Treat this as a University of Cyprus arrival rule, not a blanket Cyprus rule for every institution.

TUITION

Public and private tuition differ significantly.

Public universities

Public-university tuition depends on study level, programme and applicant status. International Master fees are programme-specific.

Private Bachelor study

Private-university tuition commonly falls in the several-thousand-euro-per-year range, with medicine, dentistry and specialist health programmes much higher.

Private Master study

Taught Master fees vary widely by programme, university and duration.

Verify full cost

Check tuition, registration charges, deposits, immigration fees, insurance, accommodation and any foundation-year cost together.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Most international funding is university-specific.

Merit scholarships

Private universities frequently offer tuition discounts based on academic performance or entrance results.

Research funding

Master and doctoral students can find assistantships and project funding at selected universities and research centres.

Special 2026 awards

Additional institutional scholarships have been announced in connection with Cyprus’s 2026 Presidency of the Council of the EU, but eligibility varies by institution and programme.

ENTRY PERMIT + TEMPORARY RESIDENCE

The university starts the immigration process before you travel.

01

Admission

Receive admission to a recognised full-time higher-education programme in the Republic of Cyprus.

02

Institution submits entry permit

The higher-education institution submits the student’s entry-permit application to the Cyprus Migration Department.

03

Academic review

The application is also examined by the Cyprus Ministry of Education for academic eligibility.

04

Finance / medical / police documents

Prepare the institution-specific financial evidence, medical certificates, police clearance and certified academic documents.

05

Bangladesh consular coverage

Bangladesh is covered by the High Commission of Cyprus in India, with an Honorary Consulate of Cyprus in Banani, Dhaka. Follow the institution’s instructions if consular visa stamping or document handling is required after the entry permit is approved.

06

Travel with entry permit

Carry the issued entry permit, passport, acceptance documents and any required originals when entering via Larnaca or Paphos.

07

Within 7 days

Register in Cyprus’s Aliens Register and submit the temporary residence permit application.

08

Annual renewal

Student residence permits can be issued for up to one year and renewed while academic progress and other conditions continue to be met.

ENTRY & RESIDENCE COSTS

The central student fee table is straightforward.

Entry permit + residence permit

€70 under the current student fee table.

Entry permit + residence + ARC

€140 when the first Alien Registration Certificate is included.

Residence renewal

€55 for issuance/renewal of a student residence permit.

First Alien Register registration

€70 where charged separately.

DOCUMENTS · BANGLADESH

Institution-led immigration means your university checklist matters as much as the government page.

Academic documents

SSC/HSC or previous degree certificates and transcripts, passport, English evidence and programme-specific academic documents.

Entry-permit file

Admission, financial evidence, certified academic records, medical documents, police clearance and repatriation guarantee or other documents requested by the institution/Migration Department.

Finance

Current public-institution guidance can request a six-month bank history, minimum recent balance, sponsor relationship evidence and tuition payment before the entry permit is filed.

Medical

Current official institution guidance can require state-issued medical certificates covering tuberculosis/chest X-ray and blood tests including hepatitis, HIV and syphilis, with limited document validity.

Translations / certification

Migration requires supporting documents to be officially translated and duly certified. Follow current Cyprus and Bangladesh authentication instructions.

SPOUSE & FAMILY

An ordinary student permit does not create a simple immediate dependant route.

General family reunification

Cyprus family reunification requires the sponsor to meet the statutory residence and permanent-residence-prospect conditions. It is not an automatic add-on to a new student permit.

Eligible family under the general route

The framework covers a qualifying spouse and minor unmarried children, subject to relationship, housing, income and immigration conditions.

Plan study first

For a new Bachelor or Master applicant, do not budget on the assumption that spouse and children can immediately relocate under the student’s permit.

Cyprus family reunification ↗
WORK WHILE STUDYING

Students can work 20 hours during classes and up to 38 hours during breaks.

20 hours/week

Paid employment is allowed outside study hours for up to 20 hours per week during the teaching period.

38 hours/week during breaks

During official interruption of classes, the ceiling rises to 38 hours per week.

Restricted sectors

Students can only work in occupations and sectors authorised by the current Labour Ministry decree, such as selected hospitality, food, cleaning, delivery, agriculture and related jobs.

Contract approval

The student first signs an employment contract and submits it with the study schedule to the District Labour Office for approval.

Current student work rules ↗
HEALTH INSURANCE

International students must maintain health coverage.

Before entry

Medical testing and insurance evidence form part of the admission/entry-permit package for many third-country students.

During residence

Migration rules require international students to maintain acceptable health-insurance coverage, normally renewed with the student registration/residence cycle.

AFTER STUDY

Cyprus offers a 12-month graduate route, but only from Master level or higher.

Graduate job-search / entrepreneurship

Maximum period12 months
Minimum qualificationEQF Level 7
EquivalentMaster or higher
PurposeJob search / business

Bachelor graduates should not assume this route applies.

The current law sets the minimum completed study level for the post-study permit at European Qualifications Framework Level 7, meaning Master level or above. The prospective job or business should correspond to the level of completed study.

Official Cyprus graduate route ↗
WORK & LONG-TERM STAY

The 12-month graduate permit is a bridge, not permanent residence.

Employment route

Graduates who secure qualifying employment need to move into the relevant Cyprus employment residence category.

Highly qualified work

Cyprus has routes for highly qualified third-country employment, subject to occupation, salary and permit requirements.

Entrepreneurship

The post-study route can also be used to develop a business corresponding to the graduate’s level of studies.

Long-term residence

Long-term status is a separate legal pathway. A Cyprus degree or student permit does not automatically guarantee settlement.

CITIES

Nicosia has the deepest university market, while coastal cities offer different study and work environments.

Nicosia

Largest concentration of universities, government, finance, professional services and year-round employment.

Limassol

Technology, shipping, finance and tourism with high housing costs and strong private-sector employment.

Larnaca

Smaller coastal city with airport access, tourism and selected university/college options.

Paphos

Tourism and hospitality hub with Neapolis University and a smaller year-round labour market.

ARRIVAL

The first seven days matter.

At the airport

Carry passport, entry permit, university acceptance and the originals requested by the institution. University of Cyprus students may also need the current €2,000 cash evidence unless exempt by scholarship.

Within 7 days

Register in the Aliens Register and submit the temporary residence permit application.

Biometrics

Provide photograph, fingerprints and signature for the residence card.

Work

Before starting a student job, use an authorised sector and have the employment contract approved by the District Labour Office.
